How Goehner Was Named
Goehner was settled in the early 1870s and named for merchant and Neb. state Sen. John F. Goehner, who emigrated in 1873.

The local school was located a mile outside of town in 1873, and even though residents complained it was too far for children to walk, the town did not move it. So one night someone hitched horses to the building and dragged it to a lot in town.
